Protium’s first large-scale green hydrogen project, Samlesbury Net Zero, has obtained planning consent.
This fantastic milestone means that this project is now one of the most advanced green hydrogen production projects in the UK – with planning and grid secured, as well as FEED completed. It will be submitted for consideration under the UK Government’s Hydrogen Allocation Round 2 Process (HAR2).

Once fully operational, Samlesbury Net Zero has the potential to save up to 11,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions every year and will be a globally significant site for showcasing how decarbonisation can be achieved by combining hydrogen, electrification and other net zero technologies.
Protium’s CEO Chris Jackson comments: “This is a groundbreaking achievement for the whole team and for the UK hydrogen market. We look forward to continuing this project and delivering decarbonisation through green hydrogen at Samlesbury.”
