By incentivizing the purchase of electric bikes through a refundable tax credit, just like we do for electric cars and solar panels, this bill would make e-bike purchases more affordable and more accessible for those who want them.

So, what exactly is in the E-BIKE Act? Let’s dive into the details. The act proposes a 30% rebate on any new electric bike, with rebates maxing out at $1,500. Individuals and households could receive substantial financial assistance when buying e-bikes, and the best part? The rebate is fully refundable, meaning that even people who don’t file or need to pay taxes can get the discount. 

But lowering the cost of e-bikes is only the first benefit of this bill. In states with similar programs, over 70% of e-bike owners report using their cars less, and since air pollution is so localized, less cars on the road means better air quality in your neighborhood. Basically, the E-BIKE Act would make low-energy transportation more affordable, reduce pollution and improve the health of our communities!
