Even the latest diesel engines emit dangerous levels of pollution. The European Respiratory Society (ERS) is an EPHA member.

A team led by environmental physicist Stefan Schreier at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences in Vienna is attempting to build up a better picture of nitrogen dioxide pollution in the city. The group is using MAX-DOAS instruments mounted on top of buildings to build a more accurate map of pollutant distribution.
