ABB to supply 2,000 AC charging stations to Austria’s postal service

Electronics giant ABB has secured an order to supply 2,000 AC charging stations to Austria’s national postal service, Österreichische Post. ABB will provide 2,000 of its Terra AC wallbox charging stations at more than 100 locations, in cooperation with regional service provider eww Anlagentechnik.

Österreichische Post operates a fleet of 2,100 EVs, and wants to establish reliable and optimum charging conditions at their locations in order to future-proof the fleet. The company, which has been operating EVs since 2011, has now committed to electrifying its entire fleet, and hopes to achieve 100% emission-free last-mile deliveries by 2030.

The Terra AC wallbox is an intelligent, networked charging solution that’s designed to be space-saving, easy to install, and user-friendly. It incorporates digital solutions such as the TerraConfig app and the ChargerSync portal to enable better management and easier commissioning.

“Fleet electrification has the biggest potential to impact transport emissions globally,” said Frank Muehlon, President of ABB’s E-mobility division. “We hope this serves to inspire other fleet providers to transition to electric vehicles.”
