Speakers at the 2019 Global Grand Final

ClimateLaunchpad* is a global green business ideas competition and part of the entrepreneurship offerings by EIT Climate-KIC (the EU’s main climate innovation initiative). Its mission is to unlock global cleantech potential and to accelerate innovations that address climate change. The 2020 Global Grand Final is currently underway: Full program and registration (tickets are FREE!) can be found by clicking HERE.

A record number of 3,000 startups from 56 countries entered this year’s competition. The 7th edition of the Global Grand Final is entirely digital (September 30 – October 2), and is currently underway. It’s a three-day festival of green business bliss with 65 cleantech startups pitching, live keynotes, interactive masterclasses, networking, fun sessions, inspirational talks, sparkling interviews, and live discussions.

A global movement, fully online

Ever since the first edition in 2014, ClimateLaunchpad has grown from a European competition with 14 participating countries to a global movement with 56 countries currently involved. Due to COVID-19, the entire 2020 competition has been made digitally available to all participants. Local Boot Camps and National and Regional Finals prepared the world’s best green startups for the main event that is now underway! The 16 teams that perform best at the Global Final will win access to the renowned EIT Climate-KIC Accelerator program.

Unique opportunity: digital Global Grand Final accessible to all (for free!)

As this year’s edition of the Global Grand Final is a fully virtual event, it is accessible to all and unconstrained by time, space, travel, or CO2. An interactive event platform has been set up to facilitate the three days. A livestream is available and CLP TV will report and comment on the event’s highlights during the event.

Speaker reveal

ClimateLaunchpad team is excited to share that none other than Diederik Samsom will deliver one of the keynotes. Diederik is head of cabinet for the First Vice-President of the European Commission. Prior to that he was leader of the Dutch Labour Party, CEO of a green energy company, and an avid and prominent campaigner for Greenpeace. Another glimpse of what to expect is a talk by Silicon Valley serial entrepreneur and angel investor JF Gauthier. As founder and CEO of Startup Genome, he is the world’s leading expert in innovation ecosystem development, having advised more than 100 governments and private-public partnerships across 40 countries. He previously worked in corporate innovation advising some of the largest Tech and Life Sciences corporations alongside Clayton Christensen and other thought leaders.

Growing impact

Every year, ClimateLaunchpad trains hundreds of startups and sends them out into the world. Packed with the knowledge, tools, and skills they need for success, it is then up to these budding companies to create the global impact we need. ClimateLaunchpad keeps track of all of their alumni and their milestones in the areas of revenue, number of FTE, funding, climate, and social impact. Each year the best performing startups are awarded with the infamous Impact Award. They will pitch in front of investors during an online Dealstream at the Global Grand Final.
