Foldable bike helmet awarded best recycled plastics product

Packable Helmet picks up its award

A bike helmet made from recycled plastic picked up the award for the UK Best Recycled Plastics Product 2021 at the Plastics Industry Awards on 2 December in London.

Injection moulding firm Cameron-Price was presented with the award for the product – the Packable Helmet – that is easy to use, lightweight and foldable in design.

Lewis Pepall Finance Director at Cameron – Price Limited, commented, “We believe people are becoming more focused and aware of how products are made. People are wanting a sustainable product, so The Packable Helmet was designed with this in mind whilst also ensuring the product is fit for purpose.”

Other contestants in the same category included:
• Klockner Pentaplast’s kp Zapora® technology, created with a vision to satisfy market demand for more sustainable packaging in mono PET.
• PLASTIX AS with CIRCULAR ROPES, a product made from 97- 98 % recycled content to make the next generation ropes.
• Working Environments Furniture Ltd’s Morph concept for a modular construction system made from 100% recycled materials and 100% recyclable.

The award now in its 7th year, was supported and promoted by recycling industry group RECOUP. Stuart Foster, CEO, of the group, said “it is important we show advances being made in improving circularity.”

“It is crucial that the public start to see how progress is being made in this arena and that plastics are moving forward to a more circular and sustainable future.”
