The Rayvolt eXXite X One Electric Bike Packs Tons Of Tech Into An Affordable Package
The team at Rayvolt are back with a new project that takes the ebike tech they have been building to the next level. They are launching a new line of e-bikes under the eXXite brand, starting with the futuristic X One that includes a built-in touchscreen display that adds meaningful new functionality.
Specifically, the eXXite team has tapped into the accelerometer of the device to intelligently increase the amount of power put out by the motor when going up hills. On the way back down, the bike similarly senses the decline and increases the regeneration function, slowing the bike down more rapidly. The new patent-pending tech sounds like something out of a movie — if the company can deliver on the promise.
In addition to the accelerometer, the X One also lets the rider pedal backwards to engage regen in a unique application that sounds neat. Whether it makes sense or not in real life, we’ll have to see what early owners think, but it seems like a step in the right direction.
While it may be packed with new technology, the X One is still fundamentally a bicycle built around an aluminum alloy frame and carbon fiber fork, its design alone sends a clear message that it is from the future. The sleek lines pull classic bicycle and motorcycle designs into the 21st century with an invisible but removable battery that has been built right into the drop tube of the frame.
The battery not only powers the motor and onboard electronics, it was also tapped to power a suite of integrated lights that light the path up front with its headlight, the tail light providing safety in the rear, and to the sides with a set of turn indicators. Before electric bikes, adding lights to a bike was a very manual process, but the ability to tap into the main battery for lighting makes staying safe on a bike easy and intuitive. The integrated lights on the X One make it easy to stay safe and keep you looking good while you do it.
All of the cable feeds on the X One have been integrated into the frame, giving it a clean, streamlined look. Down under, the X One can be configured as the X One Smart with a 250-watt motor for European customers, or for a few hundred dollars more as the X One Power with a 750-watt motor. The 750-watt motor is standard in the US, where 750-watt motors are the maximum allowed on road.

The eXXite X One went live on Indiegogo this morning where it has already racked up more than $41,000 in backing in just a few hours. Early birds can lock in an order for an X One Smart for around $1,999, an X One Smart + for $2,099, an X One Power for $2,199, or an even steeper discount for larger orders.
Coming from the established bike builders at Rayvolt, the X One feels like a better bet than many Indiegogo campaigns, and considering how much technology it promises to bring with it, it feels like a great value at its current price point.
