Help harvest produce so others can eat

You can help get fresh, nutritious food to area food pantries for hungry families by volunteering to glean fruits and vegetables at area farms.

After the Harvest needs volunteers for gleaning on several days a week from August through November at farms, orchards and gardens. Drivers are also needed to pick up excess food from farmers markets.

Since the pandemic, more than 323,660 people have become food insecure in the Kansas City area. In 2020, After the Harvest rescued 3.5-million pounds of fruits and vegetables to donate to 380 food banks, pantries, shelters and community kitchens. The organization has donated 24-million pounds of food in the past seven years, and is the largest local produce donor to Harvesters.

Volunteers are asked to follow current CDC guidelines for mask wearing. To volunteer, sign up at After the Harvest.
