Overland Park Recycling Center reopens

After being closed for more than two months during the COVID-19 shutdowns, the Overland Park Recycling Center is reopen for drop-off recycling by residents.

The center is located at 11921 Hardy, Overland Park, KS.

Accepted items include:

  • Corrugated cardboard boxes that are broken down
  • Paperboard, including cereal or cake mix boxes, soft drink cartons, shiny/slick cardboard and phone books
  • Glass food and drink containers only without caps and lids
  • Plastic and cans numbers 1-7 only, aluminum and steel food and beverage containers without caps and lids
  • Office paper, copy paper, letterhead, file folders, junk mail and envelopes
  • Magazines, catalogs and calendars
  • Newspapers or newsprint, including glossy ads, coupons and packing paper.
  • Scrap metal, steel, aluminum and other metals
  • Rechargeable batteries
  • Used clothing
  • Laser and ink jet printer cartridges
  • Books, hardback and softcover

Unacceptable items include:

  • Light bulbs
  • Fluorescent tube bulbs
  • Compact fluorescent light bulbs
  • Ceramics
  • Shredded paper
  • Plastics, tissue, wrapper paper and plastic bags
  • Alkaline or wet cell batteries
