After being closed for more than two months during the COVID-19 shutdowns, the Overland Park Recycling Center is reopen for drop-off recycling by residents.
The center is located at 11921 Hardy, Overland Park, KS.
Accepted items include:
- Corrugated cardboard boxes that are broken down
- Paperboard, including cereal or cake mix boxes, soft drink cartons, shiny/slick cardboard and phone books
- Glass food and drink containers only without caps and lids
- Plastic and cans numbers 1-7 only, aluminum and steel food and beverage containers without caps and lids
- Office paper, copy paper, letterhead, file folders, junk mail and envelopes
- Magazines, catalogs and calendars
- Newspapers or newsprint, including glossy ads, coupons and packing paper.
- Scrap metal, steel, aluminum and other metals
- Rechargeable batteries
- Used clothing
- Laser and ink jet printer cartridges
- Books, hardback and softcover
Unacceptable items include:
- Light bulbs
- Fluorescent tube bulbs
- Compact fluorescent light bulbs
- Ceramics
- Shredded paper
- Plastics, tissue, wrapper paper and plastic bags
- Alkaline or wet cell batteries
