2021 Juneteenth City Celebration Events

Planet is proud to celebrate Juneteenth by giving the day off to our employees to engage and learn in their local communities. We have identified a number of city celebrations throughout the country to participate in and we hope that you will join us. 

Alabama

• Huntsville, AL – Huntsville Black Market will host a Juneteenth Celebration at VBC East Hall. 

Arizona

• Scottsdale, AZ – City of Scottsdale is sponsoring Juneteenth Freedom Festival at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. 

California

• Los Angeles, CA – SoulfulofNoise Juneteenth Concert will be hosted at Comfort LA in downtown Los Angeles. 
• San Francisco, CA – Juneteenth EQUUS Film Fest Event FIDM will be hosted by the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. 
• San Francisco, CA – The Bay View Opera House will host a celebration with Pat Wilder and GoodBrutha on their outdoor stage. 

Colorado

• Colorado Springs, CO – The Colorado Springs Juneteenth Festival will be hosted at the America the Beautiful Park all weekend long. 
• Denver, CO – Juneteenth Music Festival in Five Points neighborhood. 

Florida

• Miami, FL – City of Miami Beach’s Arts in the Parks will host the Juneteenth Experience at North Beach Bandshell. 
• Riviera Beach, FL – Unity X Black Excellence Festival will be hosted at the Riviera Beach Marina Village Event Center. 

Georgia

• Atlanta, GA – Atlanta Parade and Music Festival will be hosted at Centennial Olympic Park. 
• East Point, GA – City of East Point is hosting a free concert Celebration of Freedom at East Point Commons. 
• Stone Mountain, GA – The City of Stone Mountain will host a community Juneteenth celebration 

Illinois

• Chicago, IL – Think Outside Da Box is hosting Roll N Peace, a Juneteenth cycling event at Odgen Park. 

Indiana

• Indianapolis, IN – Voices Community Outreach Program will host a live Juneteenth concert at 1415 Shelby St. 

Iowa

• Iowa City, IA – Iowa City is hosting a free Juneteenth concert at Riverside Festival Stage. 
• Cedar Rapids, IA – African American Museum of Iowa is hosting a panel titled: Does the Color of My Skin Really Matter?

Maryland

• Annapolis, MD – Parade and family festival is scheduled at City Docks and Bates Athletic Complex. 
• Baltimore, MD – The Peale Center for Baltimore History and Architecture is hosting a Stories of Freedom online event. 
• Baltimore, MD – The National Great Blacks In Wax Museum is hosting a Juneteenth Open Air Celebration. 
• Silver Spring, MD – There will be a World Heritage Festival held at Veterans Plaza. 

Missouri

• Kansas City, MO – Heritage Festival at 18th & Vine Historic Jazz District will be hosted by JuneteenthKC. 
• St. Louis, MI – The National Blues Museum, Al Fresco, will host an outdoor live music series featuring local musicians.
• St. Louis, MI – A poetic monologue followed by a circle of life reef presentation and a flower release, Juneteenth “On Their Shoulders”, will be hosted at the Old St. Louis Courthouse. 
• St. Louis, MI – Metro East Saint Louis will host the Community Initiative 5K Walk/Run. Virtual option available. 

Nebraska

• Omaha, NE – Omaha Freedom Festival featuring Juvenile, Michel’le, Keeshea Pratt, and TheBankster1 will be hosted at the Malcolm X Memorial Foundation. 

New Jersey

• Union, New Jersey – The Juneteenth Arts Festival will be hosted at Rabkin Park. 
• Moorestown, NJ – The Juneteenth Celebration will be hosted at Perkins Center for the Arts. 

New York

• New York City, NY – Queens will celebrate Juneteenth at Roy Wilkins Park. New York City, NY – A Juneteenth Black Parade will be hosted at Prospect Park. 
• New York City, NY – A Black Entrepreneurs Pop-up Social will take place in Harlem. 

Nevada

• Las Vegas, NV – The Las Vegas Juneteenth Festival will be hosted at Kianga Isoke Palacio Park. 

North Carolina

• Lexington, NC – St. Stephens United Methodist Church is hosting a Unity in Our Community Juneteenth celebration. 
• Winston-Salem, NC – The Triad Cultural Arts is hosting a Juneteenth Celebration at Innovation Quarter – BioTech Place and Bailey Park. 

Pennsylvania

• Philadelphia, PA – The Space 5120 is hosting an outdoor open mic celebrating Juneteenth. 
• Philadelphia, PA – Caroline Randall Williams will give a lecture on The Role of the Artist in the journey Toward Freedom at Cheyney University Of Pennsylvania

South Carolina

• Charleston, SC – Gullah Juneteenth Freedom Celebration will be hosted at Gardensboro Park
• Charleston, SC – Juneteenth Freedom Fest will be hosted at Riverfront Place 
• Columbia, SC – The South Carolina Juneteenth Freedom Fest will host its 5th Annual Juneteenth Freedom Festival at Dutch Square Center

Tennessee

• Memphis, TN – A Juneteenth Block Party and live music will be hosted at Fourth Bluff Park

Texas

• Houston, TX – The MLK center will be hosting a drive-thru Juneteenth food donation celebration. If you are interested in donating before the event, please contact MLK Center
• Missouri City, TX – A five-day celebration with a concert in Hunters Glen Park will begin on Juneteenth. The Missouri City events are hosted by MCJCF. 

Virgina

• Alexandria, VA – There will be a live performance at The Secret Garden at the Rectory to celebrate Juneteenth. 
• Richmond, VA – Vows Foundation is hosting The Juneteenth Jamboree and 5K Walk/Run 

Washington

• District of Columbia – Open Mic in the Park will be hosted at Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park.  
• District of Columbia – Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture is hosting a virtual and onsite Juneteenth: A Celebration Of Resilience. 

Wisconsin

• Madison, WI – There will be a weekend-long Shades of Black Cultural Festival. 
• Milwaukee, WI – Juneteenth parade and festival to take place in the city.
