A Tesla Model Y has been spotted in Europe. The photo was taken at the Dordrecht Supercharger in the Netherlands. In the photo, you can also see a Tesla Model S Ranger. Janne noted on Twitter that it has a Dutch green license plate for test driving, and Hans Noordsjj, who posted the photo, confirmed that it was a temporary plate for test driving purposes. However, it appears it was not imported by Tesla but by a private buyer.

Janne also noted that this could have been the same Model Y that was imported by a German company that rents it out under strict conditions.

In the video below posted by NextMove, Stefan shares his experience of testing the first Tesla Model Y in Europe. Although the plates on the Model Y in the video don’t match the one in the tweet, it’s an interesting video of the Tesla Model Y on the Autobahn — where Stefan performed a range test.

In the video, Stefan explains that the Model Y he is testing is a US import in Germany, a Model Y Performance. He also shares how he was able to get the car. He said that NextMove did a review of the car with Jan Schooner in Florida, and learned that a Tesla Model Y was being imported into Germany but didn’t know where it would end up going. To his delight, it ended up with a company that NextMove has had a business partnership with for several years. Through that partnership, he was able to rent the car.

Due to the fact that there is only one Model Y in Germany at the moment, the rental agreement requires that the renter purchase the car if it is damaged — regardless of who was at fault. Yikes! So, if you rent the car and get smooshed by a semi truck, you have to buy it. Would you take the risk?

Martin Grefte noted that this one spotted yesterday could be Roland Schüren’s Tesla Model Y and that it had the same name as the license plate holder as his Model Y.

If it was a Tesla test car, Martin notes, it would definitely show as being owned by Tesla.

He also found out that the car was imported by JB CarConcept. Whether someone is renting it from this company or not, we don’t know.

Perhaps Europe is ready for those made-in-Germany Model Ys? They can’t even wait for the US-made ones to ship through normal Tesla channels! It’s something to look forward to, for sure.
