Learn how to preserve summer’s bounty

Have you always wanted to try canning your summer veggies, but needed to know how to begin? Here are two online and virtual options to get you started.

The University of Missouri Extension is offering a free virtual Q&A on food preservation from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. on July 16, August 20, September 17 and October 15. Leslie Bertsch, a nutrition and health specialist, will answer canning questions. The session is designed to follow up on the online course, Online Home Food Preservation, but is open to everyone. For more information, contact Leslie Bertsch,  [email protected].

The Online Home Food Preservation class is five sessions that teach how to properly and safely can jams/jellies, salsas, pickles and vegetables. The class costs $30. Registration is available at UM Extension.
