Electrify America opens 600 public fast charging stations in less than 3 years

Electrify America is on a roll—less than 3 years after opening its first charging station in Chicopee, Massachusetts, the company now operates 600 public charging stations, with 2,600 individual fast chargers, across the continental US.

EA will build on this momentum by adding its first stations in Hawaii, South Dakota, Wyoming and Vermont, bringing its presence to 47 US states and DC. The network will also open more stations later this year in Montana, Minnesota and New Hampshire—states that currently have a limited number of charging stations. EA is also planning a significant expansion this year in Washington state, where the legislature set a goal of electrifying all light-duty vehicles by 2030.

Electrify America’s stations are strategically located near highway and metro sites with convenient amenities like shopping, banking and dining. The network includes two cross-country and two coastal routes, designed to enable EV drivers to take interstate trips in the nation’s most heavily-traveled corridors.

Electrify America metro stations offer charging speeds up to 150 kW, and highway locations feature 150 kW and 350 kW chargers—the fastest speed available today. Select stations include solar canopies that give customers shade and protection from the elements, as well as battery energy storage systems that help to minimize impact on the electrical grid.

“With our rapid station deployment, we are on track to have 800 charging stations with about 3,500 chargers open or under development by the end of this year—delivering on our commitment to make EV driving easier and more accessible,” said CEO Giovanni Palazzo.
