BYD introduces two new electric heavy-duty trucks

BYD unveiled two new battery-electric heavy-duty trucks, the Gen3 8TT and 6F, at the recent ACT Expo in Long Beach.

The Gen 3 8TT is “a versatile vehicle, capable of performing drayage, regional haul, and distribution work,” whereas the 6F “can perform regional haul and distribution work and can also be equipped with a body for refuse collection.”

Both vehicles offer a range of up to 200 miles (for the extended-range versions). Both use CCS1 charging, and offer power levels up to 185 kW.

BYD’s trucks are not all practicality—style and driver comfort are priorities as well. Both new EVs feature cabs styled by former Audi Chief Designer Wolfgang Josef Egger. They come standard with Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems, an Electronic Parking Brake system and keyless entry.

“We listen to our customers and their drivers to ensure we provide the features and performance they need to get a job done,” said Stella Li, President of BYD North America. “With our next generation 6F and  8TT, we’re setting a new standard for driver comfort and safety in an electric vehicle.”
