Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), is a medical condition that can affect you if you don’t receive enough sunlight exposure and has many symptoms including feelings of sadness and depression, tiredness and lack of energy.

When we are exposed to sunlight or natural light, it causes an increase in the brain’s release of serotonin, which can lift your mood, making you feel happier and less anxious.

If you want to save a fair amount of money on your electricity bills, utilising as much natural light as possible in your home will assist you with this! Natural light is also of the utmost importance for our health and wellbeing. It provides us with Vitamin D, fights off depression and helps to improve our sleep.

Due to the amount of time we are spending in our homes at the moment, it is especially important that we receive as much natural light as possible, so take some time to sit in your yard or garden and absorb some natural light. Also try to keep your curtains drawn as much as possible and allow the light to stream in!
