Chinese EVSE provider XCharge closes Series B funding round

XCharge, a provider of charging solutions in the Asia-Pacific and European markets, has closed a Series B funding round with participation from Shell Ventures (the venture capital arm of oil giant Royal Dutch Shell) and other investors.

XCharge offers a wide range of AC and DC charging products, as well as technologies such as V2G, load management and SaaS, and customizable “one-stop” charging services. Since 2015, it has deployed over 35,000 chargers.

XCharge claims to be the first Chinese manufacturer to develop a liquid-cooled 360 kW DC fast charger.

In addition to public charging, the company offers products aimed at electric bus, home and workplace charging applications. The backend supports over-the-air features including remote diagnosis and debugging.

“We have been impressed by the drive and performance of the XCharge team to deliver reliable turnkey EV charging solutions to their customers,” says Bo Li, Venture Principal at Shell Ventures. “Our investment in XCharge is a testament to our belief in their potential as they continue their journey to become a leading provider of charging solutions to local and international customers.”
