ABB to supply AC and DC charging stations to Shell

The fossil fuel industry’s takeover of public charging infrastructure continues. This week, Volkswagen and bp announced plans to build a new network of fast chargers across Europe, and ABB agreed to supply charging stations to Shell.

ABB E-mobility has signed a new global agreement with Shell to supply ABB’s portfolio of AC and DC charging stations, including the AC Wallbox for home, work or retail installations, and the Terra 360, which is designed for refueling stations, urban charging stations, retail parking and fleet applications.

Shell has set a target of deploying over 500,000 charge points globally by 2025 and 2,500,000 by 2030, at residential, commercial and Shell retail sites.

“In line with our mutual involvement in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, both ABB and Shell are innovating to drive progress in e-mobility,” said Frank Muehlon, CEO of ABB E-mobility. “We have been working together on the roll-out of public charging infrastructure since 2019, and this latest agreement takes that collaboration to the next level. With access to the full breadth of our charging portfolio, we are ensuring that Shell can select the most appropriate solution for every use case.”
