Origis Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Origis Energy, announced the start of construction on one of the industry’s largest solar and energy storage Remote Operations Centers (ROC). When completed in early 2020, the Origis Services 10,000 sq. ft ROC will house 70 personnel to support 500 field technicians. Austin, Texas based, S. Watts Group is the project general contractor.
The Origis facility will be equipped with a fully NERC/CIP North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection remote operations center and will be prepared to support the industry’s growing portfolio of large utility and distributed solar + storage projects.
With a utility solar portfolio of over 500 MW currently, Origis predicts growth to 10 gigawatts of large-scale solar and energy storage under management over the next five years. The facility at the company’s Texas headquarters will provide 365, 24/7 performance monitoring and alarm management. Real-time plant monitoring and control of U.S. solar and energy storage plant locations will continue to be facilitated by an industry-leading cloud-based solar enterprise resource planning (ERP) integrated software suite proven on solar PV plants worldwide.
“This world class clean energy operations hub is an investment to continue to provide owners and operators with excellent and proactive plant management,” said Michael Eyman, managing director, Origis Services. “It is also an investment in the growth of solar and energy storage performance in the U.S., and in our team. The men and women who will operate the facility and who are in the field need the best tools to deliver the highest quality service. The ROC and supporting facilities will ensure our team has the tools they need for the job.”
Origis Energy supports the build out of Origis Services’ Operations, Maintenance (O&M) and Asset Management service offerings for the renewable energy industry.
